if the tides raised one foot higher or one foot lower, you would still call it perfect.





if the tides raised 100 foot higher, or 100 feet lower, you would just move away from the coast and still call it perfect.

What makes you think the moon is ';designed'; at all? There's no evidence that even remotely suggests that.





All bodies that are close together in space and moving induce tidal forces on each other. The moon *induces* our ocean tides, but doesn't ';control'; them. And our gravity raises tidal forces on the moon as well. Since there's no ocean on the moon, those tidal forces are manifested in the moon's crust, and are one of the causes of ';moonquakes.'; The instruments the Apollo astronauts left on the moon confirm this.


Titan causes tidal forces on Saturn and vice-versa; Europa causes tidal forces on Jupiter and vice-versa. Our own moon's effect on tides is nothing special -- it's just gravity, not ';design.';


By the way, the moon hasn't always been at its present distance from the earth, and the tides haven't always been the same. A couple billion years ago, the tides were considerably stronger, and often wreaked havoc on coastal areas...but the large tides probably also helped marine creatures make the transition to land. If the tides then had been the strength they are now, you probably wouldn't be here. No design, just nature :)

If you wanted ask an ';intelligent'; question about the magic of the Moon, how about the fact that it exits at all and that without it Earth's orbit would perturb greatly thus limiting the way life has evolved on the planet.

Now multiply 3.8 centimeters per year by 4.5 BILLION years and bring the earth and moon closer together by this distance, and, WELLA, you've just destroyed them both.





Guess what? Do the calculations again, only this time, go by the Biblical age of the earth as listed in the Genealogical records in Genesis 5, 11, 13 and Matthew 1. (About 6,000 years, depending on the length of a generation). No sweat. How come evolutionists can't handle a little math and physics with their ';science';?
That's a strange way of looking at it, it controls the tides because its there if it wasn't we would be saying look how placid the waters are someone designed it perfectly that way.


Makes me wonder if some people are amazed at diseases and how perfectly designed they are to plague us, or how perfectly designed the sun is to give us sunburn.
Its not it was a big chunk of meteor that just so happend to land right where it is. Free falling towards earth. any rock could have landed there and be the cause of our tides.

It is important to inform you that the existence of a creator would not prove why the moon control the tides. However, the question is an excellent example of a red herring logical fallacy, so snaps for you.
Actually, it's not perfectly designed to - it is slowly moving away from the Earth - it will eventually (millions of years) get far enough away to where it will no longer affect the tides.

Also, youre looking at it from teh wrong direction. The moon wasnt designed, it was a piece of earth that broke off in a collision with a large asteroid.
Because the aliens who towed it here 10,500 years ago set it there so it would eclipse the sun just perfectly, and it has the side effect of controlling the tides.
